Mini Hog Nose Psaltery

NEW! I recently completed (July 2009) seven new mini hog nose psalteries. They are all one of a kind, all made with different woods and different rosette styles. All are steel strung. For a preview, click HERE.

An original design based on historic sources. It has a maple frame. The tops and backs are made with available salvaged woods, such as apple, maple, birch, or walnut, but some are made with salvaged and very old exotic woods. The bridges and soundhole rosettes are made from woods that contrast the top color, either maple or walnut. This is a small (12" wide x 8" high x 1" deep), very portable hog-nose psaltery fashioned for all players and is good for beginners or children (ages 8 and above). It is a full two-octave diatonic instrument tuned to the C major scale. These go fast, and I try to have a few available at all times. I make these primarily from salvaged woods, so they can vary.
